This is for your sake kiddos. This morning I was driving in the car and the song Remember When by Alan Jackson.... The song is meant to be for couples who have been married a long time, but I found myself really relating to the lyrics pertaining to the first years of marriage;
( these few verses in particular)
Remember when we vowed the vows
and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when
Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when
Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when
and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when
Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when
Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when
Life does throw us curves, there are definite times of joy as well as moments of heart ache and pain, it would be unrealistic to say it was jolly and happy all the time. The difference is whether or not you are willing to fight through the heartache and the bumps in the road (however rough they may be) in order to earn and savor those moments of joy and blessing!
I want you guys (our kiddos) to know that daddy and I will ALWAYS fight for those moments of joy, to keep you guys happy, to fulfill our vows we made on our wedding day and continue to make to each other every day! So even if we have our grumpy days or those days where we bicker or worse.... we do love each other more than you know! We both are stubborn as all heck and we will NEVER give up. NEVER!
We love you so much and that last verse I included is so true I feel so blessed that the sound of little feet is the music you guys have graced us with to dance to week to week!!!
Love,
Mama
